The windy conditions could not dampen our spirits as this was the Club’s first Open meeting since September 2019 and also an honour to host for the first time, BMC 800m races. There were some fantastic results spread across the day from our athletes.

Starting with the 3000m races and a Club V45 record for Anthony Webb (9:13.27) chasing in overall winner, Tewelde Menges (9:11.11). Not to be out done by her dad, U17 Ella Webb first female with a PB (10:47.94). Also running a PB was U17 Annabelle Young (11:14.53) and (V45) Taryne McPherson in her first 3000m race (11:52.76).

The 1500m saw U15 Alex Dack race to a brilliant PB (4:25:45) and similarly U15 Iris Crossley (5:11.60).

There was another Club record in the 400m for V50 Mark Rothery (56:00). U17. A great PB performance for U17 Ben Lineker (53:61). Maddison Sawyer leading the ladies (58.56) and Erin Hughes 62:45 In the 300m. There were PBs for both  U15 Evie Cameron (45:19) and U17Amy Jukes (46:80).

With so many athletes contesting the 100m there were a number of wind assisted PBs. To name a few, Dylan Purton (U17) (11.15), Jasper Emmanuel (U17) (11.56), Joel Shakespeare (U15) (13.10), Bukunmi Edun (U13) (14:21), Oscar Snow (U13) (14.88), Cameron Isaac (U15) (12.19), Jake Foster (U15)  (12.69), U20 Charlotte De la port Godden (12.77) and Abigail Walters (SW) (12.78), Daniel Shoyoye (U15) (12.37) Emily Moyle (13.40), Mia Franklin (13.79), Rebecca Akinsanya (U15) (12.69), Ben Purton (U15) (12.90), Stanley Cook (U15) (13.20), Jasmine Mark (U13) (14.18), Jayda Ofori-awuah (U15) (13.64) Charlie Rouse (U15) (13.63).

With M&M host to BMC 800s even in the strong gusty wind there was still some fine performances. Charlotte Young with a PB 2:16.05, Ethan Gear (2:03.97), Hayden Gear (2:08.12). In the Open, a PB for U15 Theo Ronchetti (2:19.49), Henry Gibson (U15) (2:25.40), Amber Matthews (U15) (2.29:57), Franklin Shepherd (U15) (2;29.67), Rose Crossley (U13) (2:41.76), Sam Fowler (U13) (3:00.86)

With many of the athletes competing in the 100m contesting the 200m there was once again numerous w/a PBs for athletes. The third Club record of the day by V50, John Foster, with a w/a 26.79.

It’s great to see many of our athletes getting back to competition at the Blackheath & Bromley middle distance Open meeting 11th April. A great result for V45 athlete, Anthony Webb, racing to a new PB and club record in his age category in the 1500m, 4:24.73. Full results here: Results (thepowerof10.info)

From further afield, Conor Murphy, has recently ran a big new pb in the US. After an 11.35 100m, where he stumbled at the start, he ran a super 2, clocking a new pb of 21.92 for his first time under 22! Well done Conor.

On the road, a great marathon run for Dan St Martin at Dorney Lake, Windsor on the 3rd April. Racing to a PB time of 2.47:56. Well done.

Dan Longhurst running to a PB in his 5k race at Ardingly on the 5th April. Racing to a PB of 17:11.

Taryne Mcpherson (2nd in her age group) and Bob Fursey had strong runs at the Headcorn Half Marathon on the 11th April, 1.36:32 and 1.40: 02 respectively. Well done.
