Road reports, June 2022

Members of Medway & Maidstone AC took part in the Medway 10k on Sunday 5th June 2022. The race has not taken part since 2019 due to Covid so it was a great chance for the team to get back onto this local course.

Starting and finishing on the athletics track at Medway Park, the route took runners out onto the paths through Great Lines park and the surrounding roads, including a long uphill stretch to the finish.

M&M secured first and second place with Ben Tyler, returning from injury, finishing in 34:10 followed by Jamie Walsh in 35:01. Mark Wilkins was fourth with 35:40 and Sean Barwick, struggling with hamstring issues, managed ninth place in a time of 38:43. One of the team’s juniors, Jacob Graham, finished in 41:03 followed closely by Darren Wright in 41:16. Dean Parkinson came home in 44:23 and James Milne completed the men’s team in 46:48.

For the ladies, Chloe Hammond put in another strong performance, finishing 2nd lady in a time of 42:23 and Vanessa Vander was 4th lady with a time of 45:58, a PB for her.

Aside from the top three placings for the mens and ladies from M&M, individual prizes were given to Mark Wilkins for first Male Vet 40 and Vanessa Vander for first Female Vet 35.

High Elms –5th June
