Virtual challenge – GO THE DISTANCE

Please see a message below from our athlete, Em Hale and team, with an amazing charity event she is involved in and many of our middle/longer distance will love – Virtual Racing!!

Good Afternoon,

We do hope that you are keeping well. Emily Hale, a member of Maidstone and Medway AC who has donated her free time to helping the NHS at this time, has pointed us in your direction as somebody who may be interested to hear about our exciting upcoming charity event, Go The Distance.

The ultimate objective of this event is to raise funds for a staff welfare system, enabling us to provide increased levels of physical and mental support to all our staff. Additionally, it will offer us the chance to become a more attractive employer, making recruitment and retention easier; and consequently, increasing the quality of care our patients will receive.

We believe it will be a fantastic way to thank our staff, and a great way to encourage the public to keep fit and healthy too. We also recognise that with many events cancelled in the wake of the pandemic, this would offer a great way to retain the training focus and perhaps challenge people to go one step further.

Best Wishes,

Daniel Gray, Remmi Sexton & Emily Hale

What are we asking?
Did you know that your local hospitals in Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells have their own charity? The MTW Charity strives to enhance the standard of care, services and facilities provided to patients, relatives, visitors and staff. We invite you to take part in our exciting virtual challenge GO THE DISTANCE. Choose from 5km, 10km, half marathon or a marathon by either walking, running or cycling. Time is not a measure – your effort is. From registration you will have 30 days to complete the challenge, with entries closing on July 31st 2020.

Why should you get involved?
Did you know the NHS deals with over 1 million patients every 36 hours? The COVID-19 pandemic has left us all in unprecedented times. For our NHS staff at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells hospitals, it has resulted in them working tirelessly around the clock, and this has been physically and mentally challenging. To demonstrate our appreciation and commitment to our staff, the MTW Charity aims to fund schemes which will enable us to
better support their physical and mental wellbeing.

If you would like to Go The Distance with us in this fun-filled event, then we request a kind donation of £10.00 minimum. To show our thanks and appreciation to everyone who donates, you will receive a bespoke medal, a certificate and recognition on our social media channels!
