The Kent Track & Field Championship took place at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford, over the weekend 11/12th May. There were some fantastic results by Medway & Maidstone athletes with some outstanding performance any many athletes picking up medals, club records and PBs.
In the U20s there was magnificent wins and PBs for “Star of the Show” Alex Marshall triumphing in both the 100m 10.66 and 200m, 21.74. Joshua Oshunrinde also pushing Alex hard for a great 2nd in the 100m, 10.70 (PB). In the 400m, Conor Murphy had a brilliant win with a time close to his recent PB and club record in a fantastic 49.39 and then just missing the medals in the 200m, 22.45. There was also a win for Reece Perkins in the Hammer 38.02m.
In the U17s, there was a great win for Finn Rodgers in the 400mH in a PB time 62.45. In the Hammer, Harry Blake threw a massive PB for 2nd, 48.72m.
In the U15s, there was a great run for U15 newcomer Dylan Purton taking 3rd place in the 200m, 24.40 (PB). Daniel Hardy running a PB, 12.63 in his 80mH heat to make the final.
In the SMs, Jack Crossley came 2nd in the 2k Steeplechase with a PB run, 6.44. The 800m saw a great battle with Andrejs Safars 2nd in 2:02.32 and 3rd Marley Godden, 2:02.51 (PB). Marley also taking 2nd place in the 1500m with a PB, 4.08.47. A win and PB in the triple jump for Robert Mills, 12.27m. In the Javelin, Sonny Nash took 1st place with a throw of 53.37m.
Not to be exceeded by the men, the woman saw some great results. In the U20s Ellie Turner took first place honours in the 100m running 12.02 in her heat before going on to win the final, 12.09. There was an impressive run for Lucy Hope in the 200m for second place in a PB run, 25.84. The 400mH saw a great battle for both Eleanor Wastell in 2nd, 66.48 and Emily Featherstone 3rd, 66.89 (PB). In the Discus, Grace Adeleye had a successful Championship with a second place in the Hammer 40.20m and 3rd in the Discus 27.32m (PB). In the High Jump there was a 1st place for Ashleigh West 1.70m. Another great performance from Mayong Tabe jumping to a life-time best and 1st place in the Long Jump 5.93m.
In the U17s there were great performances and 2 medals for Zara Obamakinwa, 1st in the Discus, 40.63m and 2nd Shot, 11.90m (outdoor PB). Billie Rouse finished strongly to steal 3rd place in the 800m, 2.24.5. Beatrice Fury collected a brilliant 2nd place in the 3000mW, 17.50.63.
In the U15s there was an outstanding win for Princess Asemota in the 100m with a PB, 12.79. Anna Palmer also running a fantastic PB in the 1500m to take 3rd 4:52.27. Gypsy Nash had a great championship with two 2nd places in the Discus 29.68m and a fantastic PB in the Hammer 46.84m.
Vanessa Hannam had a successful day with a brilliant 1st place in the Discus 36.35m and 2nd in the Shot 10.19m. In the Hammer, Jessica Blake had a strong competition with 2nd place, 37.50m. In the SW 1500m Steeplechase, Emily Hale took 1stt place, 6:15.16.
