Summer Presentation of Awards, 26th September 2025

Medway & Maidstone Athletic Club held its Summer Season Presentation of Awards Evening on 26th September, celebrating the achievements of athletes across all age groups and recognising the contributions of volunteers, officials, and coaches but recognising that more volunteer help is needed to support the Club. The event highlighted record-breaking performances, upcoming competitions, and honored individuals for their dedication and success throughout the season.

  • Season highlights and upcoming events: The summer season featured numerous club records and league and athlete successes. Upcoming events include the Kent Cross Country League, Sportshall, Kent Fitness League, and indoor championships.
  • Volunteer and official recognition: The club emphasised the importance of volunteers, officials, coaches, and parents in organising and supporting events so these continue to happen. New officials and team managers were welcomed, and three officials earned World Athletics bronze awards; Sarah Fletcher, Sian Thomas and Lewis Makey. Facilities support remains a priority and recognising the knowledge and support from key volunteers, with special thanks to Steve Hesketh.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Jon Neeves received this award for his long-term, invaluable support in athletic events, equipment maintenance, and contributing to the club’s successful TrackMark accreditation.
  • Special mentions for young members: Kieran Isaac, Nia Thomas, Ava Graham, and Chloe were recognised for their significant coaching/officiating and contributions alongside their athletic and external commitments.
  • Team Managers’ Awards: Awards were presnted across Masters, Senior, U20/U17, U15/U13 categories, acknowledging athletes’ performances and contributions throughout the season.
  • Derek Garrard U13 Trophy: honoring the memory of a club legend. Awarded to Aimee Barr for a fantastic season marked by multiple personal bests, team and individual medals.
  • English Schools Track & Field Championships: Thirteen athletes were selected for this prestigious event, and a major achievement, with notable performances and representation across various disciplines.
    • High-level accomplishments were recognised, awarding medals acknowledging international representation by Cameron Corbishley at the World Championships. Also Mark Rothery, Harry Wickers, Lucas Cameron, Damitan Showemimo, Amiyah Spencer, Mia Blaber, Cheyne West, Franklin Shepherd, Will Connop and Tom Connop.
    • Theo Ronchetti received the Geoff Baxter award acknowledging his great season over 800m but also his support to Club athletics.
    • Thomas Kalve received the Thomas Cook award recognising his progress and dedication.
    • Eve Morgan received the Bellway Award for an amazing multi events’ season turning her hand to most events and great Club support recently achieving Kent team gold.
    • The Relay award was awarded to the talented U15 Girls 4x100m team for their recent Club record and 6th at the Mational Relay Championships .
    • Lin Neeves was awarded the Committee trophy acknowledging her dedicated support to the Club.
    • Tilly Ryan was our Club Athlete of the year for an amazing year of Hammer and gaining an England Vest. Also supporting the Club in league matches.
    • Lots of ‘thanks’; Bimpe for some amazing food on the evening; Kings Rochester Sports Centre; and to all who came. Your continued support is much appreciated. Full medal winners will be added to the website shortly.
