Kent County U13 Pentathlon Championships – Monday 28th August, Tonbridge

On an extremely hot day, seven Medway & Maidstone athletes competed in the U13 Pentathlon championships held in Tonbridge with 6 of the 7 competing at Pentathlon for the first time and all seven achieving Pentathlon PBs. For young athletes to achieve pentathlon scores is a brilliant achievement. It’s a long day and to push themselves over 5 events and keep themselves together when things don’t always go as planned shows great maturity at a young age and should be congratulated.

Kieran Isaac came a magnificent 3rd place which now places him 8th nationally. He also achieved 4 PBs including a shot putt of 10.85m, a new club record, and now ranked 6th nationally. Other great performances from the boys came from Daniel Hardy, a first year U13, finishing 8th overall and achieving 4 PBs. Oli Rodwell also finished with 2 PBs after struggling with an injured foot.

There were some great performances from the girls with Abigail Royden, a first year U13, finishing 7th overall and achieving 3 PBs, leaving her ranked 55th nationally. Other strong performances came from Caoimhe Mallon, returning after a long period of illness and achieving a PB in the shot, Michelle Yalekhue, also struggling with a sore foot, with 2 PBs and Sarah Mitchell with 3 PBs.

Well done to all our young athletes you should be very proud of yourselves!
