Aldershot Farnham & District Road Relays – Saturday 24th September 2022

A number of teams represented Medway and Maidstone AC in the Aldershot Farnham and District Road Relays on Saturday 24th September. There was a strong representation of Southern England Athletic Clubs in  this 6 stage race with each competitor competing over 6km. This was also a qualifier for the National Road Relay Championship in Birmingham to take place 8th October. 
M&M’s senior men’s A team were successful in qualifying after a great team effort, finishing 20th out of 74 teams, with an overall time of 1h56m.41s.  An ever-improving  and strong run from Tewelde Menges (18.04) as our first leg runner and with a top 20 fastest leg overall, handed over to Ben Tyler (19.34) in 6th position. Followed by M50 athlete Anthony Webb (19.55), Jacques Cunningham-Marsh (20.28), Jamie Walsh (19.30) and a strong finish by Tom Collins (19.10). M&Ms B team were represented by Justin Lane (19.51), Daniel St Martin (20.33), Jayden Iles (20.31), Alun Rodgers (22.16), Cameron Featherstone (21.38) and Callum Featherstone (22.31) with a 2h.07m.11s finishing time for 48th place.
The U17 Mens team ran magnificently to take 3rd place in a strong field and competitive race with each runner racing 4.6km. Alex Dack (14.29) (7th fastest time of the day), Hayden Gear (14.39) and Franklin Shepherd (15.04) completed the team. Riley Maisey (15.32) was our only B team runner.
The U17 Ladies A team also racing over 4.6km ran strongly to finish in 9th place. Represented by Natalie Austin (18.21), Lola Sutton (17.56) and Lily Crossley (18.19). Their  B team teammates were Abi Hawkes (19.46),  Mercedes McGivern (18.39) and Millie Dack (19.35) finishing in 20th place.
The U15 boys each racing over 3km were represented by Henry Gibson (11.14), Aidan Santer (11.12) and Theo Ronchetti (10.25) finishing in 24th place.
The U15 girls finished in 22nd place and also  each running over 3km were represented by Sofia Cudmore-Smith (12.51), Rose Crossley (11.27) and Iris Crossley (11.37). Our B runners were Heidi Hughes (13.05) and Sophie Stratford (14.57).
There was no U13 girls team but the U13 boys were represented by Louie Gear (12.08), Freddie Gibson (10.48) (10th faster leg) and Oscar Wharton (12.31) finishing well in 16th place.
