Kent Cross Country League, Danson Park – Saturday 9th November 2019

The 3rd Kent League Cross Country meeting was held at Danson Park, Bexley on Saturday 9th November. Another committed run in the Senior Ladies saw Emily Hale finishing high up the field of 167 runners,  in 11th (19:54). An equally strong performance by (W40) Taryne McPherson 25th (21:00), followed in by Antel Muller 31st (21:29) left the 3 to score team placing 3rd on the day. (W40) Jenny Fowler followed in 44th (21:44), (W35) Claire Wilkins 65th (23:09) and (W45) Bernadette Harrop 66th (23:21) closing the 6 to score team and also in 3rd place. Newcomer (W35) Vanessa Vander 90th (24:12) and Juliette Ryan (94th) (24:20) finished the team placings.

There were 3 M&M athletes in the U17 Women’s event, with a great run by Charlotte Young in 4th (19:50), followed by first runs of the season for Billie Rouse 13th (21:33) and Alex Baker 24th (25:38).  The team finished 3rd in the team event on the day.

There was also a great turnout in the Under 15 Girls race, with 8 competitors for M&M.  Anna Palmer finished in an excellent 3rd (15:49), followed by Abigail Royden 13th (16:46), Annabel Young 15th (16:48), Emma Ryan 20th (17:01), Lily Crossley 24th (17:29), Sarah Mitchell 40th (18:44), Ciara Harrop 49th (20:22) and Amy Jukes 50th (20:28).  The girl’s team finished in 3rd place in the team event on the day.

M&M had 8 athletes representing the club in the Under 13 Girls event. First home was Iris Crossley in 13th (12:03), followed by Molly Marsh in 29th (13:09), Sophie Stratford 32nd (13:04), Elizabeth Fry 34th (13:13), Olivia Ryan 37th (13:20), Erin Marsh 38th (13:26), Heidi Hughes 40th (13:26) and Beth Palmer 44th (13:40).

With no Senior Men at this event, the U20 Men’s team was represented by Quinn Austin & Reegan Archer, finishing 10th (19:02) and 11th (19:06) respectively. Quinn’s top 10 finish moves him up to 5th place in the overall Individual league placing.

The U17 Men were once again led by Ethan Gear with another outstanding performance (6th, 16:52) on the day, which puts him in an individual league placing of 4th. Luke Stringer finished with another consistent race (12th, 17:50) and moved him up to 7th overall in the individual league. Finley MacDonald in his first run of the winter season finished in a creditable 30th (20:03) place. 

The U15 boys finished 4th on the day, another strong performance by Hayden Gear saw him first home in 5th place (13:48), he was followed home by Alistair Shelley in 21st place (15:02) and Callum Featherstone in 24th place (15:09). Other performances were Jacob Graham in 32nd (15:48), Elliot Chamberlain in 40th (16:27), Dan McGoldrick in 46th (17:01) and Myles Wright in 55th (17:34). With 1 race remaining, the U15 boys are in 4th place overall.

​A depleted team of just three U13 boys finished in a creditable 5th place as a number of the regulars were representing their schools in the English Schools cross country cup regional finals. The team was lead home by Ethan Rollings (13th in 11:29) and completed by Henry Gibson (22nd in 11:47) and a big improvement from newcomer, Liam Kyson-Waller (36th in 12:28). With 3 races completed, the U13 boys team are in 5th place.
