U15s Kent County Combined Events Championships, U13 & Masters Championships – Erith, 16 and 17 Sep

U13s Kent Championship
It was good to see some fantastic performances with a number of Medway & Maidstone A.C.’s under 13 athletes taking part in the Kent U13 Championships in Erith on 15th/16th September. With a PB throw of 31.32m, Gypsy Nash became Kent Champion in the discus and 2nd in the hammer, 34.35m. In the 2000m walk, Katie Stringer finished in 11.23.05 to take a well-deserved 2nd place. Michelle Yalekhue qualified for both the 75m and 100m finals, running close to her PBs and finishing 8th, 10.85 and 5th, 21.20 respectively. Abigail Royden ran a PB, 2.37.12 to qualify for the 800m finishing 6th in the final and also contesting the 1200m the day before running a PB, 4.13.51 to finish 6th. With Sarah Mitchell also contesting the 800m and finishing 4th in her heat with a PB run, 2.39.25 and in the 1200m finishing 7th, 4.17.36. Ciara Harrop finished 6th in her 800m heat, 3.20.28.

Toby Hughes finished Kent Champion winning the javelin with a throw of 38.57m and 5th in the shot with 8.41m. Kieran Isaac had a strong 2 days becoming Kent Champion in the shot with a throw of 9.68m. Kieran also finished 2nd in the 200m in a PB run of 26.52 and 4th in the 100m,12.99. Daniel Hardy finished 3rd in his heat just missing qualifying for the final in a PB run of 13.82. Mitchell Kerr ran a PB, 15.12. In the 1500m which was contested over 2 races, Alistair Shelly ran a massive PB of 4.55.16 to take 3rd place overall. Hayden Gear ran a PB 5.13.17m to finish 10th. Cameron Featherstone ran well to make the final of the 800m in 2.27.73 and finishing 5th in the final. Callum Featherstone also contesting the 800m in 2.33.47 to finish 4th in his heat and ran a PB in the 1500m in 5.20.37. In the long jump Ollie Rodwell jumped 3.91m to finish 10th. Whilst in the discus, Mitchell Kerr threw 10.30m to finish 14th and Adam Childs 9.36m to finish 15th. In the shot, Samuel McCarthy finished in 7th place with 6.66m.

U15s Kent Pentathlon Championship
There were strong first time pentathlon performances in the U15 combined championship with Max Eldridge finish in 4th place with total points of 2057 (and PBs in the 80mh 13.30, shot 8.24m and high jump 1.45m). Michael Uzozie in 5th place 2005 (PBs in the 80mh 13.91) and Finn Rogers 9th place (PBs in the shot 5.37m and hurdles 16.57)

Maya Marriner finished 5th place with total points of 2128 (PBs in the hurdles 12.99 and shot 7.30) and Gbemi Kasumu finishing 6th place 1686 (PBs in the hurdles 13.49, shot 5.62m and long jump 3.88)

Masters Kent Championship
With the Masters also competing Neill Wright finished 2nd in the M40 5000m with a PB of 16.49.47. There was also a bronze medal and PB for Alun Rodgers in the M50 5000m, 19.19.23 and a silver in the 1500m, 5.21.17. With strong runs by M60 Fiona Argent for first places in all her events; 200m 39.00, 300mh 81.52, shot 6.09m and discus 12.54m. Also first place for M60 Rob Sibley in the 100mh with a PB 17.50
