Sunday saw the Medway & Maidstone Under 13 & 15 teams competing in the final KYAL meeting of the year at their home track in Medway Park. M&M wanted to press home their home advantage and fielded a strong side. The team were looking to improve on their normal spot of third and they did just that with a sensational win, pipping Blackheath & Bromley by just 4.5 points.
There were fantastic performances everywhere with the team achieving around 40 personal bests on the day. One particular highlight came from Jack Childs in the U15 boys 2k walk, not only did he set a personal best time of 9:50.7, but it was also a new league record. Michael Uzozie set a new PB in the 100m with a time of 11.9, then went on to win the B string long jump and helped the relay team to second in the 4x100m.
In the U13 boys, William Maloney set a new best in the 100m, finishing second in the B string with a time of 14.2, then went on to equal his own best in the 200m later. Kieran Isaac continued his great form winning the shot and coming second in both the 100m & 200m.
On the girls side, Maya Marriner had a great day for the Under 15’s, setting new bests in the 100m & shot as well as performing well in the hurdles and 4x300m relay. Charlotte Young just missed out on a new club record as she won the 800m A string and was well supported by Erin Hughes going on to with the B string, making it an M&M double. Isobel Shelley, competing for the first time, won the javelin with a new best of 23.21m before then setting a new best in the 800m of 2:44.9
In the under 13 girls both Lily Crossley & Scarlett Murphy set two new PB’s each, Lily in the 800m & discus and Scarlett in the javelin and 150m. Gypsy Nash continued her great form for the club, winning the Discus before finishing second in the Shot and Javelin.
