After the success in the YDL two weeks ago, the M&M under 13’s & 15’s girls were competing again on Sunday. This time in the far more competitive KYAL league. The team had another great day finishing second overall, just half a point in front of Tonbridge AC. The girls continued their improvements this year with another 18 personal best performances on the day.
Gypsy Nash in the under 13’s not only beat her own best in the javelin with a throw of 23.07m, but also set a new club record in the process. She then went on to win the hammer with a throw of nearly 35m. There were also good performances in the under 13’s for Annabel Young setting her own fastest time in the 150m, Sarah Mitchell knocking 2 seconds off her best 1200m time and Lily Crossley who won the B string hammer with yet another personal best.
The under 15 girls also had a number of strong performances. Keira Rose ran a personal best 300m time of 43.8 and Summer Salter set season best performances in the shot, discuss & hammer, picking up a huge haul of points for the team in the process. The day was capped off with an excellent second place for the 4x300m team of Keira Rose, Charlotte Young, Erin Hughes & Abi Walters. Their time of 3:00.9 was just 0.8 seconds off the club record.
The Under 15 Boys tally of points for 2nd was their best performance of the season showing their strength in both the track and field. Both Long jumpers Michael Uzozie (5.39m) and Jermain Kevill (5.21m) won Jermain competing in his first meeting for the club this season.
Our sprinters shone on the day winning the 4 x 100 relay with a season’s best (48.8) (Tinsley, Uzozie, Adeleye, Kevill). The first three members of that team then partnered up with Luke Nash to run the 4 x 300 relay. The quartet set a NEW Club Record by 1.8 seconds which ranks the relay team third in the United Kingdom in 2:39.2
The U13 boys performed extremely well winning their match. Sprint stars Kieran Isaac and Ben Lineker both won the 100m, as well as a shot putt win for Isaac (9.32m) and a Long Jump win for Lineker (4.76m).
