May

YDL Upper Age group 1st May, Ashford
After promotion last season, the first meeting of the season proved to be a difficult match for the team, who finished in 6th place.  The team was missing several athletes and should improve their league position at future meetings.  There were some great individual results, including numerous PBs. For further results see…   Filling all the events in the men’s and women’s two age groups in the A& B events can be very difficult. This was highlighted by the fact that around 40% of the events were left unfilled by the club at this meeting.

Kent Masters League (SCVAC) 9th May 2016 Canterbury
The team had a superb result with a win in Division 1.  Mark Rothery broke another club M40 record in the 200ms.  Mark Wilkins ran a PB for 3rd in the 1500 m A supported by Nigel Rumsey who had a win in the B race.  Paul Newton, competing for the club for the first time, added useful points in the M50 discus, long jump and 200 m.  Steve Hesketh claimed 2 new M65 club records in the discus and 1500 m.   This was a really solid performance giving the team confidence for the season.

Kent Young Athletes League Norman Park 8th May
Some excellent results and a great turn out resulted in an outstanding 3rd place in Division 1 of the KYAL.  Blackheath and Tonbridge were very strong, as expected but M & M weren’t that far behind and a long way clear of 4th. The promising thing was the consistency in both boys and girls under 13 and under 15 teams.  Out of 8 teams, the Under 13 Boys were 2nd (missing 1st place by 2 match points), the Under 15 Boys were3rd, Under 13 Girls 3rd and under 15 girls 2nd.
