National Cross Country Championships, Parliament Hill – Saturday 22nd February 2025

The National Cross Country Championships took place on an extremely muddy Parliament Hill Course. M&M had a number of athletes participating across the age groups.

The U17 Women were the first race of the day. Emma Clayton 104th, Iris Crossley 116th, Jennifer Clayton 157th and Heidi Hughes 166th. A team finish of 13th.

The U15 Boys followed with Freddie Gibson towards the top end of the field in 28th, Louie Gear 53rd, Daniel Kershaw 273rd and Cameron Davies 320th. The team finishing 22nd.

The U17 Men’s team saw Declan Tighe first home in 211th followed by Henry Gibson 272nd, Alfie Malone 281st and Afred Moisan 288th. The team finished 27th overall.

The U13 boys saw Ethan Lyons finish in a top 50 individual position finishing strong in 46th. This was followed by team mates, Jack Gregory running well in 138th, Luca Del Guercio 241st and Ethan Miles 295th. The team were 25th overall.

The U15 girls were a team of two! Ava Malone 278th (after losing a shoe and carrying it!) and Matilda Moisan 295th.

The U20 Women saw Lily Crossley, Abigail Royden and Lola Sutton narrowly miss out on a 3rd team podium place, finishing 4th only 4 points behind 3rd. A strong race by Lily in 24th, Abigail 30th and Lola 40th. Annabel Young 92nd and Beth Palmer 107th.

M&M had 3 athletes in the Senior Women with Emily Hale running well for 161st place. Both Karen Cudmore 365th and Jenny Fowler 448th running strong in a field of 830 runners.

Dominic Wright was the only U20 finishing in 186th position.

The final race of the day, the Senior Men,saw close to 2000 competitors start at the bottom of the hill, heading up the steep climb. M&M placings were, Jamie Walsh 184th, Anthony Webb 307th, Tom Collins 355th, Justin Lane 443rd, Neill Wright 774th, Alun Rodgers 850th, Owen Featherstone 946th, Adam Featherstone 1152nd and Sean Rodwell 1439th. The 6 to score team were 42nd and the 9 to score team 34th.
