Kent Fitness League, Oxleas Wood, Eltham – Sunday 28th November

*Woolley conquers the cold*

Medway and Maidstone AC went to Oxleas Wood, Eltham this Sunday for the second fixture of the Kent Fitness League.  Despite the club being hit with injuries and illness, there was still a strong team competing, highlighted by Harriette Woolley, making her debut appearance for M&M as a second claim athlete.  She crossed the line as first lady, opening up an almost 30 second gap on the nearest rival.

First male for M&M was Daniel St-Martin, building on his strong start to the league with a 4th placed finish.  Next home was Neill Wright (16th & 1st M45) and Jayden Iles (25th).  Taryne McPherson had another strong run (5th lady & 3rd V45) maintaining her hunt for a V45 medal.  Also in the hunt for medals, Alun Rodgers outperformed his rivals to take over at the top of the M50 standings with Gareth Williams, 4th in the standings, keeping the pressure on the leaders.  Paul McAuliffe went one better than the last race, finishing as 1st M60, closing the gap to the leader at the top of the M60 standings.

The team results saw Medway and Maidstone finish 1st in the male team results, but only 9th in the female result as they still don’t have an over 55 lady to complete the team.  Despite this, the combined team results saw M&M finish in 2nd place which sees the club keep the pressure on the lead clubs going into the next race, two week’s time at Betteshanger Park.
