Open Meetings – 16th August (Lee Valley), 18th August (Worthing), 22nd August (Bromley)

M&M athletes have been involved in England Athletics licensed open meetings in the south east over the past couple of weeks. At Lee Valley on the 16/17th August, Andre Wright competed in the 200m for his first race of the shortened season with a time of 22.78 while Charlotte Young recorded a seasons best of 2:17.68 in the under 20 women’s 800m with her younger sister Annabel going one better recording a new pb of 2:28.20 in the under 17 women’s race. Josephine Bassett set a personal best of 43.97, in the under 15 girls 300m and Reece Perkins completed the M&M contingent throwing a personal best in the under 20 men’s hammer of 44.36m

Later that week at Worthing on the 18th August, Harry Osborne was once again the star of the show, recording a big new personal best over 100m of 10.97 to win the A race. He was ably supported by a new personal best of 11.30 for Dylan Purton in the under 17 men’s race, as well as new personal bests for Charlotte de la Porte Godden of 13.05 and Abi Walters of 13.06. As well as 100m races there were races over 400m, with Finn Rodgers just outside his pb with a 54.35 clocking in the under 17 men’s race. Conor Murphy was also in action running 49.58 in the under 20 men’s race. It was Conor’s one and only race in 2020, before jetting off to take up a track scholarship in the US.  The weekend saw the action switch to Bromley on the 22nd August, where M&M athletes were out in force again. In the 100m races Cameron Isaac ran a big new pb of 12.77 in the under 15 boys race, with Stanley Cook also running a pb, this time of 13.68. In the girls races, Rebecca Akinsanya recorded a new pb of 13.15 in the under 15 race, alongside Princess Asemota’s 13.56 and Emily Moyles’ 13.80. At under 17, there was a pb of 14.00 for Annaleise Kerswill and a seasons best for Mia Franklin of 14.15. Jasmine Mark was the sole M&M under 13 in action with a pb of 14.43.  Lucy Hope recorded a new pb in the U23 ladies 400m with 60.49 alongside Josephine Bassett who set her second pb in 4 days over 300m of 42.76. Also in action over 300m were Evie Cameron (45.70 PB), Ruby Towler (49.03 PB), Bernie Harrop (53.02) and Ciara Harrop (55.69)
