Kent Indoor Championship, Lee Valley – 14th/15th March 2020

The Kent Indoor Championships took place at Lee Valley on 14th/15th March. There was a lot of success for M&M athletes.

In the SW, Lucy Hope had a great weekend winning 2 gold medals and 1 silver. Gold in the 200m (26.20s), 400m (61.51s) and silver in the 60m (8.05s).

In the U20s, Zara Edeleanu competed well in both the 200m (28.13s) and 60m (8.51s). In the long jump winning a silver medal (4.63m).

In the U17s Billie Rouse ran two strong 800m races with only an hour between her heat and final. In the heat (2.23.25) to qualify for the final achieving a well-deserved bronze medal (2.23.10). Also competing well, Erin Hughes (2.31.55) and Emma Ryan (2.37.63). In the 200m Amira Thomas run well (29.87s).

There were a number of U15 successes. Emily Moyle ran well in the 60m final equalling her semi-final time (8.40s) and just missing out on a medal finishing in 4th place. However, winning a brilliant silver medal in the 60mH with a PB of 9.77s. In the 300m Josie Bassett won silver in 44.63. Also impressively winning gold in the  800m in 2.22.92. Getting back to fitness Macey Sawyer ran well for 5th (2.33.10). Abigail Royden won gold in the 1500m (5.27.46). In the High Jump, Nia Thomas jumped to a great PB of 1.35m.

The Masters’ men competed brilliantly. V50 John Foster ran in the 60m (8.55s). V45 Mark Rothery ran a season’s best in the 200m (25.54s) despite limping across the line with a pulled hamstring. V35 Andrejs Safars ran strongly in two event. First in the 400m (54.42) before achieving a worthy silver medal in the 800m (2.02.16).

In the SM Jacques Cunningham-Marsh run a brilliant race to take gold in the 1500m (4.09.81). Lewis Heffernan also winning gold with a strong win in the 60mH (9.23s).

U20 Harry Osborne ran a brilliant PB in the 200m (22.97s) for the bronze medal with Nathan Isaac just behind him in 4th (23.66s) after running a 23.56s in the heat. Nathan then went on to run a great PB in the 60m (7.22s) to win the bronze medal. Finn Rodgers ran a PB in the 400m (54.29) and Samuel Gosling in the 200m (25.40s). Alex Donnelly achieved a bronze medal in the 800m (2.09.33). Competing the next day in the 1500m (4.35.13) for 4th place.

U17 Logan Reeking ran 7.51s in the 60m. Also competing In the Long Jump winning bronze with a big PB jump (6.08m). Dylan Purton ran a big PB in the 60m (7.44). He then went on to run a PB in the 200m with 23.43s in his heat and then running similar (23.46) in the final for 5th place. There was a fantastic gold medal for Jasper Emmanuel in his first season running indoors in the 60m (7.27s). Keiran Isaac also running well in both the 60m (7.70s) and 200m (25.58s). Callum Featherstone (2.14.16) and Cameron Featherstone (2.16.90) achieved indoor PBs in the 800m.

A busy weekend with great performances for U15 Daniel Hardy. A PB in the 60m (7.60s) finishing in 4th place, 4th in the Shot (10.20m) but with a gold medal win in the 60m hurdles (9.36s). There were PBs for Daniel Shohoye (8.36s), Cameron Isaac (8.40) and Jake Foster (8.56s). In the 200m Cameron Isaac (27.36) also making the final with Daniel Shohoye (27.97). Jake Foster ran a PB in the 300m (46.42s). Daniel Culver 8th in the Shot (7.57m).
