London Indoor Games, Lee Valley – 18/19 January 2020

Last weekend’s London Indoor Games at Lee Valley for senior and under 20’s gave some M&M athletes their first opportunity to gauge how their winter training is progressing.

Saturday saw the 400m and the 200m contested with Conor Murphy recording the second fastest time of the day for under 20 men of 50.45 and in the same age group Harry Osborne set the 6th fastest time of the day over 200m with a 22.92 clocking. Ben Blake equalled his personal best of 52.78 at 400m which augers well for his summer running 400m hurdles, while Lucy Hope missed her pb by one hundredth of a second with a 400m time of 61.22. Rory Kuypers made a welcome return to competition at 200m with 23.69 and Zara Edelaenu completed the M&M contingent recording 28.19 also for 200m.

In Sunday’s 60m races returning member Will Oyowe recorded his fastest time for 10 years with a 7.29 clocking in the senior men’s race where Rory Kuypers ran 7.32. In the under 20 age group Nathan Isaac was fractionally slower with a 7.35 clocking and new member Logan Reekie running in his first indoor race was very pleased with his 7.48 timing. In the ladies races Emma Giles, running indoors for the first time in many years, ran 8.32 and Zara Edeleanu recorded 8.45.

This weekend it is the turn of the under 15 and 17 athletes to compete at the London Indoor Games where a number of M&M athletes will be hoping for success.”
