Saturday 18th January was a successful day for Medway & Maidstone athletes running for their school districts in the Kent Schools Championships in Dover at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School.
The day was cold but sunny and started of with Rose Crossley leading home the year 6 girls invitation race along with some great runs in the year 7 girls race. Amber Matthews, running for Dartford and Gravesham, finished Kent Schools Champion, followed by Iris Crossley, Maidstone, who battled hard to take a well deserved 3rd. There were other good runs for Elizabeth Fry, Medway, (19th), Erin Marsh, Medway (32nd), Heidi Hughes, Swale (35th), Isabella Foord, Maidstone (49th) and Emily Teeton, Medway, (60th).
In the year 7 boys race Jay Trimmer, Maidstone, missing out on a medal but still a very strong run to finish (4th), followed by good runs also for Theo Ronchetti, Maidstone, 10th and Henry Gibson, Maidstone, (21st).
In the Junior girls race Abigail Royden, Medway, (28th) , Lily Crossley (32nd), Olivia Ryan, (Maidstone), (38th), Molly Marsh (42nd) and Beth Palmer, Maidstone, (50th).
There were great runs in the junior boys from Hayden Gear, Swale, who took 2nd, followed by Kaz Gogol, Maidstone, (8th) and Oliver Brownridge, Maidstone, (13th,) Alistair Shelley, Maidstone, (38th) and Elliot Chamberlain, Maidstone, (40th).
In the intermediate girls, Anna Palmer, Maidstone, took gold as Kent Schools Champion, Annabel Young, Maidstone, also finished high up the placings in 6th, followed by Billie Rouse, Maidstone, (9th), Emma Ryan, Maidstone, (10th), Fern Curran, Maidstone, (43rd) and Ciara Harrop, Medway, (54th).
In the intermediate boys, Ethan Gear, Swale, finished well in 10th, Callum Featherstone, Medway, 33rd and Cameron Featherstone, Medway, 38th. In the senior girls, Charlotte Young, Maidstone run strong for 5th. In the senior boys was Luke Stringer, Maidstone, (16th) and Alexander Donnelly, Medway, (17th).
