Kent Fitness League, Shorne Woods – 5th January 2020

This Sunday saw the latest fixture in the Kent Fitness League, with the club’s local fixture at Shorne Woods, a new course for this year.  Despite the Kent Championships taking place the day before, the club was represented by a strong field of 22 athletes, the highest club attendance since the 2006/7 season.  Conditions at Shorne were challenging with sections of deep mud and some steep climbs at the back of the course particularly testing those that raced less than 24 hours before.

It was another strong showing from the club with both the men’s and women’s teams achieving their best result under the current scoring system, which saw the club again come out on top of the combined team result and further strengthen the position atop the overall standings with two races remaining.

There were impressive performances throughout the team, but there are notable mentions for Emily Hale who again came home as 1st lady, putting her 1st in the overall standings.  Nell Wright led the way for the men’s team finishing 5th, seconds ahead of Chris Rampling in 6th place.  Taryne McPherson led the F40s with another strong run that strengthens her position as first F40 in the overall standings.  Barry Royden was first of the M50s closely followed by Alun Rodgers, who continues his rich vein of form, now topping the overall standings for the M50s in the league.
