Senior and Southern U20 Championships, Bedford – 1st and 2nd June 2019

Several of Medway & Maidstone athletes competed at the Senior and Southern U20  Championships at Bedford on 1st and 2nd June. There was medal success too!
Mayong Tabe took the silver medal in the Long Jump with a fantastic jump and PB of 6.07m only 3cm behind the winner. Not to be outdone, Alex Marshall after a 21.78 heat, ran a legal (+0.6m/s) 21.43 and PB to win a bronze medal. Both were club records. The attention for them now turns to Bedford in 3 weeks time as they inch closer to those all important European Junior qualifying marks. There was also a silver medal for Ashleigh West in the High Jump with 1.66m.
There was more medal success on the second day for Darcey Kuypers in the SW 200m. After a 24.87 heat, Darcey went on to take the silver medal in 24.52. In the U20M 100m Joshua Oshunrinde, after a 10.8 heat and semi-final, went faster still recording a time of 10.73 to finish 3rd in the final and a very well deserved bronze medal.
Other results over the two days saw Conor Murphy qualify for the final of the U20M 400 finishing in 6th place. In the U20W 200m, Lucy Hope, after a 25.86 heat, made the final to finish 8th in 26.04. In the U20W 100m, Ellie Turner finished in 7th place in 12.24 after qualifying with 12.06. In the U20M 100m heats Alex Marsh run 10.88 and Joel Ogunfemi 11.58. In the SW 100m, Darcey Kuypers was successful in qualifying for the 100m final after a 12.22 heat, finishing 6th 12.15.
