M&M athletes were in track action again last weekend at the London Games open meeting at Lee Valley.
In the senior men’s 60m Andre Wright showed exactly why he was so crucial to the club’s promotion to division 1 of the Southern Athletics League last summer, recording 6.91 and 6.87. There were also some promising runs over 60m by two of the clubs under 20 men, with Rory Kuypers timed at 7.32 and Nathan Isaac at 7.42. Zara Edelaenu ran a new pb of 8.40 for 60m, a time which she replicated in her second run of the day.
Over 200m Darcey Kuypers was just outside her new pb, set at the previous weekends South of England Championships, with a 25.26 run. Lucy Hope made her indoor debut for 2019 with a 200m indoor pb of 26.89 in the under 20 women’s event, which also saw Zara Edeleanu run close to her indoor pb, clocking 27.67.
After his 4th place at the previous weekends South of England Championships, Conor Murphy was just outside his new pb with a time of 50.28 in the under 20 men’s event. In the same age group there was a very promising first run over the same distance by Harry Osborne recording 52.64 in the men’s race and Emily Featherstone mirrored that with an equally encouraging 63.73 in the women’s race. Although blocked at the penultimate bend, George Blake continued his comeback over 400m with a 55.02 run in the senior event.
