The fourth race in the Kent Fitness Cross-country League was held at Fowlmead Country Park, Deal, last Sunday. Medway & Maidstone AC continued with their good results this season, although with no women running, the combined team position was down on the previous race. The men’s team was also missing a couple of their front runners, although they still had a good result, finishing in 8th out of 18. There were 339 finishers from 18 teams.
The first man home from the club was M40 Neill Wright, who, with an 8th place finish, has progressively improved in all four races this season. Wright was followed by M45 Adam Featherstone in 27th, M40 Darren Wright, making his Fitness League debut, in 50th, M50 Alun Rodgers 52nd , M50 Richard Kerswill 84th, M45 Aaron Hughes 116th, M65 Ivon Whitmore 213th and M65 Nigel Read, completing the team in 326th.
The club also had two runners in the Junior race, Cameron Featherstone 2nd and Callum Featherstone 3rd in the Under 14 category. This leaves Cameron joint top after 3 races.
The next race in the KFL League is Sunday 6th January at Nurstead Court, Meopham, the day after the Kent County Cross-country Championships.
