The second race in the Kent Fitness Cross-country League was held at Swanley Park last Sunday. Medway & Maidstone AC followed up their excellent results at the first race with their best results for 10 years. The men’s team was 2nd and the combined team 6th.
Unfortunately the women’s team was missing 1 runner as they had a Kent Cross-country fixture the day before. Otherwise the team could have challenged the league leaders. An amazing 533 runners finished the muddy 5 mile cross-country course and the club had a great turn out with 15 runners.
Teams are made up of 8 men and 4 women with a compulsory inclusion of specific master categories. The first man home from the club was Chris Fullerton in an outstanding 2nd place, he was followed by Richard Tomlinson in 4th overall and 1st M50, Daniel St Martin 11th, Harry Collins 16th, Barry Royden 18th and 4th M50, Adam Featherstone 27th and M40 scorer, Neill Wright 41st, Alun Rodgers 64th, Sean Rodwell 89th, Richard Kerswell 160th, Aaron Hughes 219th and Ivon Whitmore 332st.
The women were led home by Bernadette Harrop 48th and 18th W45 followed by Mo Fazakerley 61st and Catherine Rodwell 73rd.
In the Junior race, Ciara Harrop was second in the Under 14 category.
