On Sunday Medway & Maidstone AC competed in the first race of the season in the Kent Fitness League Cross-country League. An amazing 527 runners finished the tough and hilly 5 mile cross-country race at Knole Park, Sevenoaks. The club had 13 runners competing; their highest entry for 4 years, this producing their best team position for over 5 years.
Teams are made up of 8 men and 4 women with a compulsory inclusion of specific master categories. The women were led home by Jemma Whyman with a superb 2nd place. She was followed by Mo Fazakerley (51st and W45 scorer), Catherine Rodwell 78th and Kat Ford 160th. Unfortunately there was no W35 scorer. The first man home was Chris Fullerton in 4th, followed by Daniel St Martin 10th, Adam Featherstone (27th and M40 scorer), Neill Wright 60th, Alun Rodgers (76th and M50 scorer), Sean Rodwell 90th, Steve McGlynn 119th, Richard Kerswell (175th and M50 scorer), Aaron Hughes 248th and Nigel Read 331st.
