MEDWAY & MAIDSTONE AC ACCEPTED ON THE TESCO BAGS FOR HELP SCHEME – WE NEED YOUR HELP

The club has been accepted under the Tesco Bags for Help Scheme. This scheme provides charity funding for a range of needy causes. In our case we have been accepted so that we can provide a concrete base for disabled throwers. The concrete base will be located adjacent the throwing circle and save the need to set up the old wooden pallet and steel bar arrangement currently utilised. In addition, if we get higher funding, we would also like to install concrete pathways inside and outside the throwing cage as access to the throwing circle is very difficult, especially in winter. Finally, we would also like to install ramp access to the official’s shed.

The amount of funding received by an organisation depends upon the number of blue plastic discs that are inserted into the collection boxes at the entrance to Tesco stores. There are three different charity boxes at any one time, the one with the least discs, after 2 months in store, gets £1000, the next highest £2000 and the highest £4000.

The stores involved will be Tesco Extra at Bowater’s roundabout, Rainham Tesco and 3 Tesco Metros (Sturdee Avenue, Pier Road and Kestrel Road, Lordswood). Our boxes will be in store for July and August.

PLEASE ALWAYS ASK FOR YOUR BLUE DISC AS THEY AREN’T USUALLY GIVEN UNLESS YOU ASK FOR THEM.

THANK YOU.
