Kent Schools Cross Country Championships, Dover – Saturday 19th January 2019

A number of Medway & Maidstone athletes were selected for their district teams to compete in the Kent Schools Cross Country Championships in Dover on Saturday 19th January 2019. There were some great results, with several gaining automatic selection to represent Kent at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in March.

Combined with the year 7 races, the year 6 Invitation race saw Jay Trimmer win a silver medal with Theo Ronchetti in 4th place. Elizabeth Fry also taking a silver medal in the girls race.

In the boys year 7 race, Ethan Rollings finished in 33rd and Noah Ryan in 91st place.

The girls race seeing Molly Marsh finish in 34th, Beth Palmer 46th and Emily Moyle 71st.

Year 9, Anna Palmer, ran brilliantly to achieve a bronze medal and automatic selection for the English Schools Championships in the combined Year 8 and 9 Junior girls race. Other strong performances were Abigail Royden, 17th, Emma Ryan, 19th, Martha Tatnell, 27th, Lily Crossley 34th, Amy Jukes 42nd, Sarah Mitchell 45th and Ciara Harrop 107th.

There were similar strong runs in the Junior boys age group. Ali Shelley, 7th and Hayden Gear, 8th with both running in the same age group next year! Also finishing strongly Cameron Featherstone 19th, Kaz Gogol 26th, Callum Featherstone 27th, Kelechi Ryan 49th, Jacob Graham 70th and Robert 108th.

In the Intermediate girls race, Rachel Anderson finished 22nd, Charlotte Young 24th and Amirah Blackman 42nd.

In the Intermediate boys race, Hamish Reilly had a great run to finish 4th and automatic selection. Followed by Hayden Gear 13th and George Wallace in 24th.

In the Senior girls race Ellen Crombie, in her first race for M&M and also racing for the first time in 2 years, ran an impressive race to gain automatic qualification, finishing 4th.

In the Senior boys Alex Donnelly finished 21st, Ben Hughes 27th, Jude Gordon 26th and Quinn Austin 29th.
