Upper Age Group YDL, Woodford Green – Sunday 1st July 2018

Medway and Maidstone A.C. Under 17s and 20s men and ladies travelled to the home track of the current league leaders Woodford Green A.C. for the 3rd meeting of the season.

After finishing second for the first two meetings behind Woodford Green A.C., M&M took the challenge to them and won a very close meeting. As a result, the 4th league meeting will be an exciting challenge as the winner of the meeting will take the title and win promotion. With all the clubs depleted of athletes due to other county events taking place and a track temperature exceeding 30 degrees, M&M athletes had to dig deep.  The U20M middle distance athletes showed the way with Quinn Austin winning the A string 800m and 1500m in times of 2.07.56 and 4.36.46 supported by Marley Godden winning the B string 800m, 2.15.40, 1500 in 4.41.03 and then going on to win the A string 3000m in 10.00.04. U20 George Blake celebrated last weekend’s success in  qualifying for the English Multi Events Championships with wins in the javelin; 41.51m; pole vault 3.20m; shot 10.99m and also a PB; and discus 35.00m. U20 Grace Adeleye proved to be invaluable in the field with wins in the hammer; 38.30m; shot 7.88m; 2nd place in the high jump 1.30m; and 3rd in triple jump 9.33m. U17 Max Eldridge a young athlete showing his potential to be another multi-event star for the club with wins in the 100m hurdles 16.16; javelin 36.20m and discus 16.87m.
