April 2016 Results

April

1st Medway & Maidstone Open Meeting, Medway Park
The first Open Meeting of the year was a great success.  There was a great entry in the Under 11s Run, Jump & throw event which continues to be popular.   There were also good entries and a wide range of age groups at the other track & field events and numerous PBs recorded. Southern Athletics League 16th April 2016, Hastings
There were some great individual results at the first meeting of the season and numerous personal best performances.  Dan gill had 2 PBs and 2 wins, Emma Giles had 2 PBs with a win and a 2nd place and Lewis Cable had 2 PBs.  Simon Habtom, James Griffin, Sarah Kenyon and Tewelde Menges also had PBs.  The men’s team was very strong and although the women’s team had some great results there were a several events left unfilled. The overall 3rd team place was a bit disappointing especially as the 2nd placed team was only 7 points in front.  With 3 home meetings this season it is hoped we can still look for promotion this year.  For full results see ‘Power of Ten’.

Kent Masters League (SCVAC) 29th April 2016 Eltham
The team, having returned to Division 1 this season, had a great result with joint 2nd place.  Rob Sibley was the only winner on the day in the triple jump, this indicating the team’s solid, consistent performance.  There were three new club records in the 400 ms with Mark Rothery (M40), Martyn Corbishley (M50) and Steve Hesketh (M65). Steve Hesketh also added 2 new club records in the 6 Kg hammer and pole-vault.  Team Manager Marco Ronchetti took 2 3rd places for good points and Nigel Rumsey was 2nd in the B 400 ms.
